about.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to rethink a new direction in which our art took place. We had to teach ourselves other mediums in order to bring forth income during an economic crisis. This is when we weaved ourselves into the fashion industry: From the customization of shoes, to unique zero-waste apparel. This influenced our stride toward wearable art.

Our work Explores the connection to, and the experience of memory. Through the work, personal history and memory are tied together and investigated, as well as how times informs memory.

The work also displays how visual representation can be used to subtly communicate experiences.

This piece also explores our 'making' process which is why we have decided to include an overlapping audio over our process video which can be found in our 'process work'. The audio which overlaps the video is a letter written to our past selves, in an attempt to fix time in through a medium. We try to create an experience in which memories become a narrative construction.

The work deals with how our past memories relate to, as well as model our present.

This origami process has taught us that mistakes can be reversed, as an unproperly folded crease is not a permanent symbol of failure, all we had to do is flatten the paper and start again.

We grew up being perfectionists and the fear of failure has somewhat held us back from exploring different avenues. Our memories have then shaped us into who we are, it provides us with a sense of self and makes up our conceptual experience of life. Here, each origami bird represents a memory, and all these memories become an extension of the body (in the form of the spine and chest cavity), by this we mean that memory results in our own decision making and awareness of our actions.

Paper and memories also have a subtle link, that being that they can both be long-lasting but are also susceptible to fragilities.
